I’m a coach!
I am a business coach, an executive coach and even a life coach at times.
I’ve been trained as a coach since 2001. Back then coaching wasn’t very trendy, it was in the States, but not in Australia. It took me several years to feel confident as a coach, yet it didn’t detract from the results that came from the people I worked with.
I love being a coach.
When I decided I wanted to be a coach, I was oscillating between counselling and coaching. Coaching won out because I believed it had a more positive spin to its processes and outcomes.
Also, my mum said she thought I would be pretty good at it because I am always so optimistic about things.
Well fast forward to today.
Coaches are a dime a dozen. You could pick one up on the street corner if you wanted to.
So that means in this present day, to attract clients, a coach you have to market hard.
Well, for me, that is not my strength zone. Marketing yourself is difficult. Telling everyone how good you are, is challenging, and my coach says, if it’s hard, well then guess what. You have to do it.
Ugh!
So, I sort of had a crack at it, it’s a bit sloppy, and when I look at my marketing, I don’t think I really hit the mark when it comes to speaking directly to business owners.
But what I do, do. I showcase my value set.
You’ll see in my blogs, my pictorials in the socials, you’ll see me. What I love, what I value, who I am. And I think that is really important. If someone wants to work with me, I believe that is important, to like the person who is going to help you change something about you.
I can send a resume with all my credentials, which are many, and even though I can talk the business stuff, I do believe that you need to see me.
I’ll tell you why.
I have approached highly marketable coaches to coach me. And my experience has been, they don’t really care about me.
Let’s balance that up though, I have worked with some tremendous coaches, it just so happens, there isn’t so many of them.
I decided to take a middle ground and be me. Not do something that I am working hard at and feeling ungenuine.
I love what I do, I have tried to do other things, but I always come back to working with people. I love people. I love to see positive change in people. When their epiphany pops. It’s so much fun.
